Content DescriptionReports that he has read to Mr Ist£riz the British despatch complaining of the recent growth of the Slave Trade on the Island of Cuba, and gave him an abstract of Mr Crawford's reports; they discussed the slave trade; Mr Ist£riz believes that the British Government had not got its facts right; Mr Ist£riz referred to some alleged irregularities by British warships on the coast of Cuba, and made it clear how insulted he is by the British comments; Mr Ist£riz concluded by saying that he understood the British Government's complaint about the inefficiency of the Cuban authorities in suppressing the Slave Trade, and would do anything in power to ensure that Spain would does everything possible to fulfil its obligations on this matter; Mr Ist£riz is no longer Foreign Minister, but his successor will probably be influenced by his views.
