Content DescriptionGives further information on the rejection by Spain of Anglo-Dutch proposals to reduce piracy around Malaya; encloses a copy of a note from van der Maesen on the failure of Baron [Lurestion] at Madrid which includes instructions sent to him by Marshal O'Donnell; states that British naval forces in the Indian sea [South China Sea] are to act with the Dutch fleet against piracy north of Anambas Island, Natoena Island and on the north east and north west coast of Borneo; comments on the probability of exports of arms and ammunition to the fleet; gives details of the ransom paid for Dutch shipwrecked seamen held on south coast of Mindanao; states that he was annoyed by the Spanish Government's attitude to piracy; informs him van der Maesen has sent a note to Sir John Crampton on the subject.
