Content DescriptionReports details of a conversation with Baron van Zuylen on the claim of the Dutch Government to the military services of sons of British residents in Holland; gives details of law currently being considered and informs him that Baron van Zuylen admitted privately that he disapproved of this law; informs him that the French legation have supported the claims of young Frenchmen, unwilling to serve in the Dutch Army, successfully; states that the French legation disapprove of conscription to the regular army but not to the National Guard.
