Content DescriptionReports that de Scheel has informed him that the Danish government have refused Clarendon's proposal; informs him that the result of a conversation between Lord Wodehouse and General Orholm has been telegraphed to London; states that the Danes will not change their mind on the terms; Spain will not pay any compensation and Belgium is waiting to see what happens; states that British action is therefore very important to smaller states; discusses American involvement in Sound Dues issue; gives an account of a conversation with Mr Quaade; informs him he is to see de Scheele.

Postscript states that, despite his meeting with de Scheel, little progress has been made.
