Content DescriptionInforms him that Lord Clarendon wished for confirmation of the contents of his letter [about Sound Dues]; discusses the approaching war; it seemed that Prussia would be neutral and hoped Sweden would 'look after Götland'; reports that Prince Napoleon was unhappy with his reception at Brussels and states that, if the report was true, King Léopold had acted foolishly; informs him that he was attempting to persuade Lord Clarendon to put a regular messenger in Copenhagen who would also serve Stockholm.

Postscript dated 9 Feb; reports that he had received an answer from Atkinson on weather conditions in the Baltic area with reference to Riga, Kronstadt and Vyborg.
