Content DescriptionThanks him for his despatches, which agreed with his own, on the subject of the Russian demands; Russia had demanded that Sweden close her ports to enemy powers in the event of war; informs him that he obtained this information by chance and had sent it on to Lord Clarendon; the Swedish Government were pleased with the British response to their declaration of neutrality; Plesen had informed his Government that the Swedish response to the French answer to their declaration of neutrality was not so well received; everyone in Sweden, including the King believed war to be inevitable.
