Content DescriptionCongratulates him on the progress that he is making with the embassy house; informs him that, when the telegram appeared in the Times suggesting that legal proceedings were to be made against him [Buchanan], the Treasury was alarmed and he was able to reassure them that he [Buchanan] would have informed them of any serious trouble; asks him to give instructions in Chancery so that they may know as soon as possible of any bills drawn upon the Paymaster General; comments that "a word from you will put the whole matter to rights."
