Content DescriptionLetter headed 'Vienna ideas on Prussian campaign of 1866' in hand of Andrew Buchanan.

Comments that they both have the same knowledge of the war; informs him that the King of Saxony has begged for his land not to be occupied by Austrian troops; gives details of troop movements and numbers; remarks on the quality of the Italian infantry and cavalry; calculation of the numbers of casualties; states he is unsure of how long he is to remain in Austria; requests his luggage be forwarded from St Petersburg to the Austrian frontier to avoid it being 'touched' in Poland; comments that he saw Mrs Rashleigh before leaving London; informs him that Lumley has left for Prague to look for 'his king'[unspecified]; sends best wishes to Lady Buchanan and members of the legation.

Postscript states that he wishes the Buchanan's 'reigned' in Vienna as it would be 'very jolly'.
