Content DescriptionThanks him for his efforts regarding his leave; acknowledges that Lord Russell and George Elliot were in Scotland whilst he [Buchanan] was in London; leave will be announced on Lord Lyons's return; he [Stuart] is disappointed that he will not be home in time for shooting; informs him of the movements of Lord Lyons and his meetings with Admiral Sir A. Milne; gives details of his visit to Mount Vernon with a member of the cabinet; inquires after the health of Georgiana and if she is looking forward to a visit from Blantyre and Mary; states he has little to write publicly or privately.

Postscript comments that once he [Stuart] has returned home he will not return to America; informs him of the presence of Colonel Ramsey and his 'naval brother' in Washington.
