Content DescriptionAsks him to read and then forward the enclosed letter to Lord Russell, and to forward a letter for the Queen of Holland; the treaty is on the point of being abandoned; will do all he can to save the north of Schleswig with a good frontier; believes Holstein is lost to Denmark forever; had urged the Government to take a resolute stand; it did not do so and then Jutland was sacrificed; agrees with Lord Russell that the best settlement for Denmark would be the establishment of a free state; asks his opinion on this.
