Content DescriptionComments on the Danish question; believed that the British Government had been at fault for not discouraging the Danes from military action when they knew that England, France, Russia and Sweden did not intend to offer any support; states that he will ask Rechberg about the possibility of negotiating peace with the new Danish Government; discusses the reporting of the issue in the Morning Post and states that Rechberg had been told by Apponyi that Lord Palmerston had been angry and not calm as reported; asks if he will be visiting Vienna; states that he wishes to take leave of absence but that Fane may not be well enough to deputise and that Strachey is too junior; reports that Mrs Strachey's health was improved.
