Content DescriptionStates that the obstinate refusal of Denmark to accept any reasonable proposals had 'opened the eyes' of the British Government; states that England was not in any position to engage in any war; reports that he had seen Rechberg but failed to learn anything about the outcome of the meeting in Karlsbad; Rechberg had told him that he and Bismarck has agreed not to make any further conquest in Germany beyond the duchies [of Schleswig-Holstein]; was awaiting the outcome of events in England and stated that Austria did not desire change as she was happy to deal with Palmerston; states that he could not make plans on account of Julian Fane's absence; Mr Ford was due to arrive as a 2nd secretary but Strachey has gone home with his wife; mentions that Karolyi may marry a Polish woman.
