Content DescriptionStates that Bismarck seemed determined and that the Danes are also obstinate; Bismarck had no intention of withdrawing troops from Schleswig; states that the intelligence received from England about the state of public opinion and that of the Queen was very sad; Rechberg was not due back for a few more days, but he did not expect that the question of arbitration would have been decided at Karlsbad as Austria would object to Louis Napoléon and the King of the Belgians had refused; discusses the possibility of Prussia admitting Austria to the Zollverein; asks him to enquire about a man calling himself Baron Otto von Tettan who was now in England 'making advances to a young lady who has some money'; had been informed that Couza had 'humbugged everybody in Constantinople' and was returning to Bucharest.
