Content DescriptionStates that the recent conference has not produced any advance [in the settlement of the Schleswig-Holstein dispute] and that the Danes seemed to expect help 'from heaven'; reports that Rechberg expects the Danes to recommence their blockade; discusses Poland and the policy of Couza, stating that the only other rural population in such poor circumstances was to be found in Russia; reports that he had heard poor accounts of Lord Palmerston's health and that he had heard Stuart was to go to Constantinople rather than Mexico; comments on the health of Mrs Strachey, which seemed a little improved; Mr Strachey had asked for leave to travel to England.
