Content DescriptionStates that he is glad he [Buchanan] is enjoying Berlin society; Austria was in mourning for the wife [Hildegard] of the A.D [Albrecht] who had fallen ill on returning from the funeral of her brother, the late King of Bavaria; states that he had been unwell; reports that Werther and Rechberg had told him that Austria and Prussia have agreed a common policy towards Denmark; Rechberg is angry with the French suggestion that the people of the Duchies [Schleswig-Holstein] should be asked to decide their fate; states that the double dealing of Napoléon and the French was unacceptable; discusses the arrangements for the departure of Maximilian [for Mexico]; asks for information about Blauenfeldt who was reported to have been a spy; suspects he was the victim of a German informer.
