Content DescriptionReports Rechberg's attitude to the Schleswig-Holstein dispute; states that he does not seek military glory and would have accepted the proposals sent from Berlin and London; he is willing to accept Lord Russell's plan but if Denmark will not negotiate the war will continue; assumes Rechberg will be discussing the situation with Bismarck; states that Bernstorff had acted foolishly in refusing to drink the health of the King of Denmark; Rechberg was happy with 'the new Emperor of Mexico' [Maximilian]; reports that representatives from Mexico were in Austria and were due to visit the Queen of Spain in Valencia; states that the trouble that had been expected in Hungary had failed to materialise, but there were still problems in Galicia.
