Content DescriptionReports that he has sent despatches directly to London and not via Berlin; states that there is nothing in them of great interest; Rechberg is uncertain which direction to take and the Chamber seems to disapprove of his policy on the Schleswig-Holstein question; asks for Bismarck's response to the demand for the maintenance of the Danish monarchy; Rechberg had not replied, having asked for time to consult with Berlin but it was evident he was not happy with the idea; discusses the Danish question, stating his opinion that war seems inevitable and that the Danes might even fight; agreed that Murray has acted without tact in writing to Beust; discusses the possibility of German unity; states that Rechberg is interested in the activities 'of the small Germans' and especially of the Duke of Coburg with Napoléon.
