Content DescriptionUnderstands his feelings over the Schleswig-Holstein questions; states that what needs to be done is to close the matter without drifting into war; expresses annoyance that Napoléon made Drouyn write despatches making it appear that the powers are willing to attend his conference; reports Rechberg's fears that the King of Prussia may be forced to change his government and that Rechberg believes that Bismarck is the only man he can count on to carry out the present policy on the Danish question; discusses attitudes to the Danish question within the German Confederation; states that he had read Paget's despatch to Rechberg which reported the state of public opinion in Copenhagen; asks for news of Wodehouse's progress in Copenhagen; makes reference to the problems in Poland.
