Content DescriptionReports that the affairs of Schleswig-Holstein are continuing to move quickly; regrets that Denmark does not accept Lord [Russell]'s proposal of 1862; states that Rechberg is frantic as he has failed to achieve the expected majority at Frankfurt due to Bavaria; believes that Gorchakov's idea is good and that Austria will accept it if Prussia does likewise; Rechberg is waiting to hear from Berlin; reports that the state of public opinion in Germany is giving him cause for alarm; states that 'we [the English] abused the French for making war for an idea and should like to know what the Germans now are about'; reports a rumour that Schweinitz has attempted to 'make the king go wrong' but that he had failed.
