Content DescriptionCongratulates him on his KCB; has received his cheque and given £2 to Helen as he requested; has not intended him to pay for the journey of a young gentleman to Measham; has been too unwell to travel to Measham himself but has given Teddy a £5 note to pay the expenses, the remainder to be divided between himself, Eric and Andie; has been working very hard, ten hours a day; has applied to be made Queen's Counsel but has been refused for the present; has considered what he said about Spanish stocks but feared a war between Spain and Britain, France and the U.S.A. would see Spain lose Cuba and the stocks would plunge; hopes Florence is getting better; his mother is due to visit; mentions that her mind is starting to wander.
