Content DescriptionHoped he was enjoying his visit to Edinburgh and that he was getting on well with his wife to be; informs him he had given his remembrances to Stratford Canning and his wife, who were both well; comments on his social life in Madrid; informs him he would probably not receive his things from Constantinople until April; comments on the fortunes of Mahmoud [the Sultan of Turkey] and stated he hoped he would not 'purchase victory over his rebellious subject but the seizure of his independence'; refers to reports that he [Buchanan] was to succeed Kennedy.
