Content DescriptionExhibit Books ('Liber Exhibitorum') recorded details about the careers of the clergy within the Archdeanery. Each clergyman was obliged to exhibit his ordination, institution and induction papers once in each Archdeacon's incumbency. A number of exhibits were usually taken at each spring Visitation.

The Exhibit Books record the dates and places of the clergyman's admittance as deacon and priest, and details about his institution to his current benefice. The books are arranged chronologically by date of Visitation, and within that, by place.

Related MaterialThe Archbishop's Induction Mandates for newly beneficed clergy are to be found in series AN/IM. There are more informal lists of clergy to be found in the AN/L section, and clergy are named in the Call Books which record attendance at the Archdeacon's Visitations (see AN/CL).
