Admin History | Edward Mason Wrench (1833-1912) and his cousin Annie Eliza Kirke (1831-1920) were married in 1861, strengthening further the link between the two families. Edward M. Wrench was the son of Thomas William Wrench (1805-1875) and Diana Maria Kirke (1810-1876). Annie was the daughter of William Kirke (1799-1843) (brother of Diana Maria) and Ann White (1807-1874). Both families used the firm of Brooke Taylor, solicitors of Bakewell, Derbyshire for the management of their legal affairs.
See the fonds entry for the Wrench Collections (Wr) for more details about the family. |
Custodial History | These papers form a sub-fonds of the Wrench family collection and came to the University library from Brooke Taylor, solictors, in 1969. |
Description | This section of the Wrench collection relates to the settlement of the estate of Edward Mason Wrench (d 1912) and Annie Eliza Wrench (d 1920), and to the settlement of the affairs of the Kirke family with regard to their estates at East Markham.
Most of the material consists of correspondence relating to the settlement of estates, and testamentary papers. These include wills, accounts and property documentation. There are also two plans of Kirke estates in Nottinghamshire. |
