Content Description
The University College Nottingham was a forerunner in the movement for adult education having grown out of the Mechanics' Institute and the local lectures, (University Extension classes) offered by the University of Cambridge. The drive for adult education was at the heart of the University College's ethos, with many classes being offered in the evening to enable workers to attend. The papers within this series relate to the work of the department both within the college's walls and beyond (extra-mural).
