|Content Description||The first part of this series contains papers relating to Screveton and Flintham in Nottinghamshire, the core of the Thoroton family's landed estate, although it is not a complete record of the management of the estate (THF/E/1).|
The series also contains leases and other papers relating to the Thoroton family's rental property in London and Lincoln (THF/E/2-3).
The remaining sections contain estate papers relating to property owned by families related to the Thoroton family by marriage:
Papers relating to an estate at Kew, Middlesex, owned by the Levett and Blackborne families (THF/E/4).
Papers relating to coal and lead mines in Swanwick, Bonsall, Eyam and Winster, Derbyshire, owned or worked by members of the Turner and Thoroton families (THF/E/5).
Papers relating to an estate at Ingoldmells and elsewhere in Lincolnshire, inherited by Thomas Blackborne Thoroton Hildyard from his relative Mary Hutton (THF/E/6).
Papers relating to certain other estates known to have been owned by the Thoroton or Hildyard families have not survived in this collection. In particular, there are no documents relating to Winestead in Yorkshire.
