Content DescriptionMost of the title deeds in this series relate to the acquisition and sale of land in Flintham (THF/D/1) and Screveton (THF/D/2) in Nottinghamshire, the core of the Thoroton family's landed estate, between the 17th and the mid-19th century. There are also deeds relating to smaller Thoroton Hildyard estates at Aslockton and Kneeton, Nottinghamshire (THF/D/3).

The remaining sections contain deeds to estates owned by families related to the Thoroton family by marriage:

15th and 16th-century deeds to an estate at Kew, Middlesex, later owned by the Levett and Blackborne families (THF/D/4).

Deeds relating to an estate at Alfreton and Swanwick, Derbyshire, owned by the Turner family (THF/D/5).

Deeds relating to various estates in London, Market Harborough, Old Leake, Rainham and elsewhere, owned by the Levett and Blackborne families (THF/D/6).

Deeds relating to an estate at Ingoldmells and elsewhere in Lincolnshire, inherited by Thomas Blackborne Thoroton Hildyard from his relative Mary Hutton (THF/D/7).

Deeds to certain other estates known to have been owned by the Thoroton or Hildyard families are not present in this collection. In particular, there are no deeds or documents relating to Winestead in Yorkshire. There are also no 20th-century deeds relating to Flintham and Screveton.
