Content Description | The journal is untitled and runs from 30 September 1682 through to 29 September 1683, containing entries every two days on average, providing a fascinating record of this period.
It contains accounts of events in the city of London, as well as recording important national news. Much of the news is political, concerning, at a local level, the Lord Mayor and Aldermen of the city and, on a national level, the King. Much is related concerning cases at the Court of Kings Bench.
Of further interest is comment on a wide range of European political affairs and conflicts. It would appear that the author received letters from abroad on a daily basis, the content of which was transferred to the journal. Places mentioned include Paris, France; Vienna, Austria; Cadiz, Spain; The Hague, Holland, and Scotland. |
