Physical Description
Large folio volume
The manuscript consists of 46 large folios and 1 small folio; in addition, 2 stubs precede f 1; 6 stubs precede f 34 and 1 stub precedes f 37.
Condition
Generally good
Descriptive Features
The manuscript is entirely made of large sheets folded once forming large folios; there are no deckled edges because the paper was uniformly trimmed for binding; the cropping seems to have been minimal and no text was lost.
46 large folios exhibit irregular chainlines at 30, 31 and 32 mm apart; 8 to 9 laid lines per centimeter; there are no paper-maker's devices anywhere in the sheets which may indicate that the paper was made in England; the small folio (f 41) appears to be of French origin but it is the half of the sheet which does not show a watermark device; chainlines are about 25 mm apart.
Professional secretary hand
No rulings, the copying space was marked by means of prickings.
Loosely bound in a folder of limp vellum strengthened with three dark brown leather bands; the middle band serves as a strap and has an iron buckle which was used to fasten the folder by means of a flap; the dimensions of the folder are 397 x 320 mm and the dimensions of the flap are 400 x 182 mm.
