The poem is addressed to 'the Reverend Mr Timothy Thomas at the Right Honourable the Earl of Oxford's in Dover Street near St James's'.

The poem is endorsed on f 2v, 'Mr Wesley, just after my return from Down Hall, Nov. 1727'.
