The note 'Rec<eive>d Oct: 19: 1726' is written in the top right hand corner of f 1r.

The poem is followed by a note in the same hand: 'I want a MS out of the King Library & therefore the Name of Your humble Servt is not to be added to these Verses, least pro singulari sua humanitate I should go without it'.

The poem and note are addressed to 'the Rev<eren>d Mr Thomas at the R<igh>t Hon<ourable> the E<arl> of Oxford's in Dover Street St. James's'.

Part of the postmark and of the seal are evident on f 2v.
