Dated at top of f 1r 'March the 18th: 1720'. This has been used to give an approximate date of 1721 (modern dating) to the poem.

The poem is not ascribed but the author has been identified as Charles Bridgeman by William Pinkerton in Notes and Queries (3rd Ser., vi, 490-491).

The poem concerns Wimpole, Cambridgeshire and satirizes several contemporaries associated with Robert Harley of Wimpole.
