Content Description | Text, which consists of 45 lines, is a copy of a monumental inscription to John Philips. Marginal note by lines 26-27 reads: 'In a different Hand. These 2 lines were rased out, after ye monument was put up, by ye order of ye Bp. of Rochester. He said ye word Miltono was not fit to be in a christian church'.
The monument was set up by Sir Simon Harcourt.
