Content Description | Text, which consists of 45 lines, is a copy of a monumental inscription to John Philips. Marginal note by lines 26-27 reads: 'These two lines were ordered to be raised out, after ye monument was up, by the Bp. of Rochester, the word Miltono being the only objection, as he said not fit to be in a christian church'.
Text followed by Latin obituary of John Phillips, who died in Hereford, 15 February 1708/9.
The monument was set up by Sir Simon Harcourt.
