The text is a translation of Pope's Essay on Man, Epistle 1; and includes corrections and revisions.

Text dated on p 53 'Jan.1.1733 D[eo] G[ratia]'

On the front is a quotation from Horace, Satires 1.4.41-2.

According to Francis Needham, librarian to the 6th Duke of Portland, the manuscript is in the hand of Timothy Thomas, chaplain to Edward Harley, 2nd Earl of Oxford; Thomas was a close friend of Sneyd Davies.
