Watermark: Eagle, spread wings and suspended from the eagle's tail a cross and the monogram P?, HH from Heusler, papermarkers of Basle, (bottom half only), approx. 85 x 100 mm (Type B)

Fair copy on paper ruled with brown ink marginal lines

Burgundy red buckram on cardboard; both covers have spine and border along spine in Burgundy red Morocco leather and gold stamped with a single fillet line on edges where the leather meets the buckram; two double fillet lines decorate head and tail of spine; modern binder added 2 front and 18 blank leaves at end of the MS to support early paper.
