Condition of binding good and condition of paper is very fragile, paper is now soft and deteriorating around the outer border of the folios.
Descriptive Features
Watermark: Arms of Bern: Bear passant per bend in crowned, ornate shield, suspended below the shield, a cross, the letter D and three rings, the insignia of During, a paper maker from Bern and Basle, approx. 110 x 50 mm (Type A)
Watermark: Eagle, spread wings and suspended from the eagle's tail a cross and the monogram P?, HH from Heusler, papermarkers of Basle, (bottom half only), approx. 85 x 100 mm (Type B)
Secretary script with titles in upright block letters
Fair copy on paper ruled with brown ink marginal lines
Burgundy red buckram on cardboard; both covers have spine and border along spine in Burgundy red Morocco leather and gold stamped with a single fillet line on edges where the leather meets the buckram; two double fillet lines decorate head and tail of spine; modern binder added 2 front and 18 blank leaves at end of the MS to support early paper.
