Two volume typescript of Baring's novel with extensive corrections in the author's hand.
Gives the story of Mary Stuart as it might have been told with slight variations by each of her four ladies-in-waiting.
Date of 1931 is given on f 1.
This is the first part of a 2 part volume, the second part can be found in Pw V 140.

Mainly there are two types of paper with two different dimensions.

Paper A) blue Henningham and Hollis Royal Bank Note, 4 Mount St. London
Paper B) white standard T.S.A.D. Dickinson Bond 1800 made at Croxley paper
Brown leather with geometrical gold and blind continuous tooling in covers and spine by COCKEREL in 1931, stamped on front cover and in spine 'In my end is my Beginning by Maurice Baring I'; on base of spine it is also stamped 'Original Script'; volume is kept in a marble paper lined box; Pw V 139 is identical to Pw V 140.
