Content Description	Acknowledges receipt of Portland's letter; says it is strange he [Capell] should not have more authority to 'prevent the two Mr Brodericks from naming my Ld Rumny [Romney] and my Ld Conesby [Coningsby]; thinks representations might be made about the two men on 'your side of the water'; comments on the difficulty of preventing personal matters from being brought into the House of Commons; refers to the reasons why personal matters were brought into the 18 Years Parliament, namely that the court was pursuing matters contrary to the public good; comments that proceedings against the Lord Chancellor [Sir Charles Porter] have been contrary to parliamentary methods; refers to opposition to the Habeas Corpus Bill; asks if he should send for his nephew [Lord Essex], commenting on his more recent behaviour. The date on the letter is probably old style.
