Content DescriptionExpresses the unease in England that the fleet is delayed by wind at Spithead; says that Lord Hertford and Mr Vernon arrived the previous night; refers to the negotiations which Lord Halifax is conducting; has received a letter from Mr Vryberge stating that the States are going to winter their fleet in the Mediterranean and Portugal and wishes to know whom the queen is going to appoint to command her ships; wishes to know from Stanhope the quota which the Dutch are thinking of for the winter; says that it will be difficult for the queen to name a commander until they know more of the condition of Spain and the progress of the expedition.
