Content DescriptionDiscusses the particulars of the renewal of the Berlin Treaty; thinks that it is a good bargain and authorises Stanhope to sign the renewal of the treaty as soon as it is offered; believes that it is not probable that the treaty will be renewed until the King of Prussia (with the assistance of Lord Marlborough) has negotiated with the Emperor; encloses a copy [not present] of a letter from the queen to the Administrator of Holstein; believes that the States hold a very similar view; says that he has made an excuse as to why the minister for Sweden was not invited to a conference of the guarantors of the treaty of Travendahl; thanks Stanhope for the news that Barcelona has been taken; relays instructions as to Stanhope's discussions with the Pensionary relative to Portugal.
