Pw2 Hy 686
Draft letter from Robert Harley [later 1st Earl of Oxford], Whitehall, London, to Mr [Alexander] Stanhope; 9/20 Feb. 1704/5
20 February 1705
Instructs Stanhope to inform the Pensioner of Queen Anne's instructions with regard to transports for the troops which are to act on England's behalf with the fleet; hopes that the States will do the same and not place their own troops aboard their 'men of warr'; says that the Queen does not intend to make any payment to the King of Prussia until the troops are actually in place; hopes that the French naval preparations will encourage the Provinces to 'expedite their fleet'.
