Content DescriptionIs still awaiting the post and details of the progress of discussions [at The Hague] regarding the prohibition of commerce [with France]; believes that this will be a slow process; is sending the Duke of Marlborough's 'admission into the alliance?' with a man who is travelling to The Hague; believes that the 'affairs in ye north are in such a situation' that great care will be needed to 'prevent any Rupture'; says that it is in France's interest to promote such a rupture; hopes that the Pensionary will 'seriously deliberate' the affair of Lubec and Darthig; believes that some latitude should be left to Sir G. Rook regarding the stationing of troops at Lisbon throughout the winter; says that no fewer than 'sixteen English and Dutch' should be left there; asks that this be communicated to the Pensionary.
