Content Description
Instructs Lord Rivers on behalf of the Queen relative to his diplomatic mission to Hanover; refers briefly to the letters given to Rivers to present to the Elector and Princess Sophia; asks him to present the Elector with the steps the Queen has taken in relation to the peace; explains why the Queen feels it impossible for her to continue the war, shouldering as she is the greatest burden of all the allies; asks him to transmit the paper signed by Monsieur Mesnager and says the Queen believes the basis upon which the French wish to open peace negotiations are reasonable; comments that it is unfair to the people of England for the Queen to continue the war at such an 'exorbitant and disproportionate' charge; stresses the actions of the Queen to subvert those in Britain who speak out against the Electoral family.
Comments on the Queen's diplomatic correspondence with Denmark regarding the possible winter quartering of the Danish troops in Brimon; says he will also represent this to M. Rosenkrantz and urge the Danish King to refrain from such an action; asks him to represent to the Elector the problems caused by the large loan to Denmark, as without this the invasion could not have gone ahead.
