Content DescriptionStates that he has been impatiently awaiting a reply to his letter of 26 Jul.; feels he must quash the'spargamentum' [slanders?] recently spread, by communicating an extract from the letter of the Tsar [Peter I]'s private secretary to the Russian agent at the Hague, designed to quash similar attempts in Holland, and which shows, happily for [Harley] that the rumours were entirely false; says as soon as he gets the response from his court he will pass it on; says from the same extract [Harley] will see that the Russian court continues to desire and wait for an answer from the queen [Anne] on the business entrusted to him [Matveyev]; says he has already imparted the good news from Poland on 26 [Jul].
