Content Description | States that a Scotsman named Dennis Obryan claims to have evidence that Mr Sabbarton (who is recently arrived on the island) is in fact Colonel MacCartney who killed the Duke of Hambleton (sic) in a duel; reports that Obryan refuses to sign his evidence and that Mr Wybrant previously knew MacCartney and swears that Sabbarton is not him; says that Captain Cross has been in conversation with Sabbarton and also believes that he is not Colonel MacCartney; states that they believe Obryan's evidence to be groundless and will take no further 'cognizance of the matter'.
