Content DescriptionHas received from Mr Pollock his Majesty's Royal Warrant allowing the duke and his heirs to continue to use the surname of Cavendish and to bear the Cavendish arms quarterly with the Bentinck arms; also, due to the 2nd Duke and Duchess of Portland's descent from Cuthbert, Lord Ogle, the duke and his brothers are permitted to use the Ogle badges and cognizances; the registration of this will be made as soon as he has received the warrant from Earl Marshal; has given orders for the preparation of the plate and banner as the duke desired, adding the crest of Cavendish; encloses a drawing of it and of the badges of Ogle [not present].
