Content DescriptionExplains that it is a necessity that he goes to Paris, which he wants the duke to grant him as his situation is so unique; explains that his father, Colonel John Darby (formerly Lieut. Col. to the 57th Regiment) lived in Paris with the King's permission and died there last February; since then the seals of government have been put upon his effects, and if they are taken off before he has the chance to appear and make his claim, the whole property will be confiscated; hopes the duke will, under these circumstances, allow him to go to France.
