Content DescriptionAs he was not able to meet with the duke today at Burlington House, sends him the enclosed papers [not present] which detail the attempt to encourage the use of cheap food during the last winter and spring and the testimonials of those appreciative of his work; knows that the duke will be glad to hear that his measures helped the plight of the poor in London, and that it saved the lives of several thousands subjects who would have otherwise perished; mentions that all the sacrifices that have had to be made have been worth while.
