Content DescriptionHas received a letter from John Lumley asking Titchfield to write to the Duke of Devonshire to apply for the living of Reddington near Nottingham for Rev. Mr Cocker, curate of Hathern near Loughborough; Lumley speaks highly of Cocker and reports that the Bishop of Lincoln also has a high opinion of him; Titchfield told Lumley that he could not trouble the Duke of Devonshire with this request but would ask the Duke of Portland; adds that he read last night that the duke [of Portland] had a fall at Brownsea; hopes it has had no unpleasant consequences.
