Content DescriptionExplains that he has shown the Duke of Portland the papers relating to his concerns; points out a mistake in the papers relating to the paternal estate, which he has explained to the duke; has shown the duke the account of repairs for Bulstrode in 1799 and 1800; gives the average yearly sum required; mentions a statement made at Welbeck which shows the excess of expenditure over these 2 years; explains that the duke owes money to some tradesmen who are now in great financial distress; believes they should be paid off immediately; describes suits brought against the duke by various tradesmen; gives examples of how the duke intends to economise; mentions the duke's plan that Titchfield buy some of his estates in Northumberland; mentions the amount of income tax that is owed; adds that duke is very concerned about his finances.
