Content DescriptionWrites that Hardwicke knows the reasons why it was felt that Thomond should have the support of government in his application for the vacancy in the Representative Peerage of Ireland; explains why he must argue this case on Thomond's behalf; feels that if Lord Charleville (who has only recently been made a peer) or any other peer were acquainted with the details they would withdraw their pretensions in favour of the Marquess of Thomond; explains, in some detail, why he did not give Hardwicke the full facts of Thomond's case before the decision was made; sincerely apologises for his omission.
